Fortunately, I was wearing my hiking houseshoes

To learn:

I try to learn something every day.

Late yesterday I learned my eyesight's not what it used to be. I learned this on my front sidewalk after my lighening quick right leg stomped to serious smithereens .. an acorn.

I thought the acorn was a cockroach. Turned out to be a very hard cockroach. Fortunately, I was wearing my hiking houseshoes.

I should have known better since several times recently, flipping on the garage light at night to see cockroaches scurrying everywhere, I have stomped into the garage like a spastic Irish river dancer, yet I have yet to stomp a roach.

Today I also learned from a Google search there's no such thing as an acorn roach.

And that Living Loudly Brings Early Hearing Loss - More than 28 million Americans have some degree of hearing loss ranging from mild to severe. In the coming 25 years, that number could triple.

And I learned all about the history of Shades - There is something about a pair of sunglasses that makes them one of the most quintessential 'must-have' items of all time.

To Laugh:

Hurricanes just aren't funny when one is blowing up your pantsleg. There are times we cannot laugh.

Hurricanes may not ever be funny to a survivor. But hopefully after the storm, survivors can laugh -- because laughter can help get us beyond the fear and grief.

The good thing about hurricanes is, in the eye of the storm, nobody pays much attention to your hair and makeup.

May God bless and preserve Louisiana and Texas.

To Love:

I bet Steve Goodier is a good guy. I know he's a good writer. He's a regular contributor to HaLife.com.
Steve's latest effort encourages us, whatever we choose to be, to Be a Good One. We need more loving encouragement.

To learn, to laugh, to love - that's about all there is.
